{into nature}

{into nature} is a weekly Monday post inspiring the exploration of nature. It is a grassroots effort to combat the nature deficit disorder in our current generations. Please join me in this movement back into nature by sharing your own nature inspiration, whether shared through photographs, words, poetry…. leave a link here in the day's comments for all to enjoy.

“For children, nature comes in many forms. A newborn calf; a pet that lives and dies; a worn path through the woods; a fort nested in stinging nettles; a damp, mysterious edge of a vacant lot- whatever shape nature takes, it offers each child an older, larger world… nature does not steal time; it amplifies it.” -Richard Louv

most days we head to the state forest up the road from us to meander through the woods.  but as the weather warms we start to frequent a few of our local parks more often for some slightly more organized outdoor fun.

one of our favorite parks to frequent is brooksvale park in hamden, connecticut.  it's here the littles explore chicken coops, pet horses, bleat away at the bleating goats, treasure hunt for tiny peacock feathers, slide, swing, explore the garden for leftover goodies, catch tadpoles to observe, find amazement in the tiniest pond turtles, frolic along the trails, taste the flowing sap of sugar maples.  it's here mama daydreams of a future home where most of this will be done on our own land.

it's a lovely little place for daydreams and adventures.

We have a local land trust farm that runs programs for kids. My midwife and her husband caretake it. They have homeschool volunteer time on Friday mornings. The kids love it so much. Animals and kids...
