“For children, nature comes in many forms. A newborn calf; a pet that lives and dies; a worn path through the woods; a fort nested in stinging nettles; a damp, mysterious edge of a vacant lot- whatever shape nature takes, it offers each child an older, larger world… nature does not steal time; it amplifies it.” -Richard Louv

now that the days are getting longer we've been enjoying pre-bedtime adventures in a nearby park a few times a week- strolling through the fields, running through the fields, checking on the fish, rolling down the hills, finding random treasures that were left from the day, wagon rides, soaking up the golden rays that only an evening sun can bring. we started doing this at the end of last summer and i think we will try to make it a regular thing this summer. it's been such a great way to end the day.
i love how i accidentally captured our whole family here... see pat and i in the shadows? :)

This is one of the things about living in the country that I don't like, we can't take an evening walk to the park. We do take an evening stoll after dinner with the dog, but it would so nice to be able to walk to a park for some fun without having to get in the car.
Such a great summer tradition and the perfect way to get rid of that last little bit of amazing energy kids have.
Love the family pic :)
We do something similar. Sometimes it's out in our back yard. Often its a walk to the park behind our house. The kids love it and the light's so lovely that time of evening.
I love your pic of all of you:)

Great picture!!! Do you like your wagon? We just tried this out at the store the other day and my kids really liked it, and I loved the seat belts and seats! I think a purchase may be in order!
Forgot to leave my link this morning :)

Very neat picture!
bridget, yes we *love* our wagon! my inlaws bought it for tanner's first birthday. at the time i was dead set on having the original radio flyer (being sentimental i guess). i don't know what ended up changing my mind to get the seated radio flyer, but i'm so glad we did. my boys love it, we've put quite a few miles on it!
Kim directed me to your blog :)Here is our recent outdoor adventure: http://www.backwoodsmama.com/2012/06/outdoor-adventure-west-lake.html
