{into nature}

{into nature} is a weekly Monday post inspiring the exploration of nature. It is a grassroots effort to combat the nature deficit disorder in our current generations. Please join me in this movement back into nature by sharing your own nature inspiration, whether shared through photographs, words, poetry…. leave a link here in the day's comments for all to enjoy.

"For children, nature comes in many forms. A newborn calf; a pet that lives and dies; a worn path through the woods; a fort nested in stinging nettles; a damp, mysterious edge of a vacant lot- whatever shape nature takes, it offers each child an older, larger world… nature does not steal time; it amplifies it.” -Richard Louv

i'm feeling a bit reminiscent tonight.  as tanner and i scrubbed our canoe today (the very canoe you see below, 20 something years ago) i was flooded with memories of the nature adventures my grandparents blessed me with.  my grandma and grandpa, they were some cool folks.  they gifted me with a love of nature.  i'm sure it was them. instilling it in me at the youngest years and probably instilling it in my mom who also helped nourish my love of nature.

^^me all smiles, nothing was better than another camping trip with grandma and grandpa!

when i think of the gift of nature my grandparents gave me, i'm filled with gratitude.  i hope that one day in the future my own children will look back at our family's nature adventures with such gratitude and love.

we're back at the lake this week, i'll catch up with you all when we return!  have a great week!

I don't know that we full appreciate what our grandparents gave us until we are older. They've past on a lovely legacy that you share beautifully!

Such a lovely post and wonderful memories. This is exactly what my art of mentoring week was like...people of different ages sharing and connecting within and around nature. It truly is amazing.

My grandparents taught me so much about nature, as well. Many hikes in the woods with my Poppaw and flower gardening with my Mommaw. My {into nature} post is here: http://likemamalikedaughter.blogspot.com/2012/08/an-enchanted-childhood-playschool-last.html

So cute! I love all these old pictures. It's easy to see where your love of nature came from.
